Apple’s iPhone lineup for 2019 is rumored to be similar to its last year’s release with the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. Three iPhone models are rumored to be released this year according to an article from the Wall Street Journal.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were released last year on September 13 while the newest batch of iPhone models for 2019 is expected on September 10. The same anonymous Twitter account who revealed the names of the iPhone lineup accurately last year has leaked a name for this year’s newest flagship – iPhone 11 Pro, 11R, and 11 Max.
iPhone 11’s Unconventional Camera Setup

One of the biggest changes coming in the new iPhone 11 is a triple rear camera setup (wide-angle, super wide-angle, and telephoto lenses) in a triangular configuration housed on a square-shaped camera design. An unconventional model compared to the usual vertical triple or quad camera setup from most Android devices in the market.
Powerful A13 Processor
We’re expecting nothing less with its rumored A13 processor supplied by Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) – Apple’s sole supplier for their processors. The iPhone 11 lineup is expected to have a more competitive processor with the A13 Bionic chip compared to previous A12 Bionic chip. With this new chip upgrade, we’ll see better phone and graphic performance.
Wireless Charging
Apple is catching up with Samsung’s release of the Galaxy S10 line with its wireless charging capability for other devices. With the wireless charging capability of the Galaxy S10, power can be shared to devices that are Qi-certified like the Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch Active. The iPhone 11 will be adapting this feature and will soon be able to share its battery with other iPhones and AirPods.
3D Touch

3D Touch Technology is a feature for the iPhone’s pressure-sensitive screen. However, this feature has withered since it was not distinctly discoverable for most users. The three new iPhone models are rumored to lack the 3D Touch Technology previously featured in the iPhone XR. The iPhone 11 will be running with Haptic Touch instead – a long press plus vibration feature.
Other rumored specifications:
- A possible Apple pencil stylus for the new iPhones.
- We’re expecting a new shatter-resistant glass so hopefully the iPhone 11 will hold better when dropped with an effectively enhanced water resistance.
- An all OLED iPhone lineup is what Apple is aiming for, but this is yet to happen for 2019. Only the iPhone XR from last year had an LCD display while the iPhone XS and XS Max had OLED high-resolution.
- No 5G-ready chipset for 2019 but we’ll hopefully see this update on 2020.
